Following the launch of Optimtrade earlier this year, Crédit Agricole CIB and Komgo are taking a new step in their long-standing collaboration to bring AI-powered capabilities to the Bank’s digital Trade Finance portal.
Built on Komgo’s technology, Optimtrade was launched to provide Crédit Agricole CIB’s corporate clients worldwide with a simpler, faster and more intuitive way to manage their Trade Finance operations. The two companies are now working together to integrate AI into Optimtrade, further transforming how clients initiate transactions, access information and interact with the platform.
From digital workflows to AI-powered interactions
AI is rapidly changing the way people interact with technology, moving from navigating applications and manually entering or searching for information towards simply expressing what they want to achieve. Crédit Agricole CIB and Komgo are bringing this evolution to Trade Finance, with a strong focus on delivering an increasingly seamless client experience.
The AI agent in Optimtrade will enable clients to connect, upload underlying documents, automatically extract the relevant information and populate a draft instruction for a Bank Guarantee, Letter of Credit or Standby Letter of Credit. This will significantly reduce manual data entry and accelerate the preparation of Trade Finance transactions.
Clients will also be able to interact with the data available in Optimtrade using natural language. Operational and treasury teams will be able to ask questions about their instruments outstanding amounts, exposures or upcoming maturities and access the relevant information instantly, without having to navigate dashboards or generate reports.
The same conversational approach will help users navigate Optimtrade and complete their day-to-day activities, removing the need to learn specific workflows or remember where individual functions are located. By reducing both manual input and the need for dedicated system integrations, these capabilities can also facilitate digital adoption for clients operating in a multi-bank environment.
The collaboration will also explore the use of Model Context Protocol (MCP), taking this experience a step further, enabling clients to securely connect their own AI agents to Optimtrade to interact with Trade Finance services directly from the environments in which they already work.
Dominique Honoré, Global Head of Global Trade & Commodities, Crédit Agricole CIB:
“AI is fundamentally changing the way people interact with technology, and our clients increasingly expect the same simplicity in their professional environments. Together with Komgo, we are bringing this evolution to Trade Finance, proposing a new way of using external platforms with direct and internal access, while maintaining the security and reliability our clients expect from Crédit Agricole CIB.”
Building the next generation of digital Trade Finance together
Crédit Agricole CIB and Komgo have been working together on the digitalisation of Trade Finance for many years. Crédit Agricole Group has been a founding shareholder of Komgo since 2018, and Crédit Agricole CIB has repeatedly partnered with Komgo to introduce new digital capabilities to its clients. Optimtrade marked the latest major milestone in this collaboration.
Baptiste Audren, Chief Revenue Officer, Komgo:
“Optimtrade demonstrated what can be achieved when Crédit Agricole CIB’s Trade Finance expertise meets technology designed around corporate users. AI now allows us to take that experience further and rethink how clients interact with their bank to manage their Trade Finance activities.”
